Leaving the TV off today, need a break. Trump is back in DC for his final couple of weeks of fake relevance and acting out. He was not going to miss it, much as I hoped. Or maybe Palm Beach is really going to enforce that non-residency agreement.

I watched Bridgerton this week and completely enjoyed it. Perfect escape.

I also started watching The Madalorian, which really is as entertaining as a space western as everyone said. Reminds me of the shows we had when I was a kid except they didn't have anything as cute as Baby Yoda.

OK, I might turn on the TV to try to find some of the movies on the top 10 lists that I have not even heard of. Nomadland and First Cow seem like things I would like.

All ten living secretaries of defense -- including Dick Cheney, James Mattis, Mark Esper, and Donald Rumsfield -- signed an open letter about the military and the peaceful transfer of power:

"As senior Defense Department leaders have noted, `there's no role for the U.S. military in determining the outcome of a U.S. election.' Efforts to involve the U.S. armed forces in resolving election disputes would take us into dangerous, unlawful and unconstitutional territory. Civilian and military officials who direct or carry out such measures would be accountable, including potentially facing criminal penalties, for the grave consequences of their actions on our republic."

David Frum: "That letter from 10 former SecDefs warning against Trump using the military to hold onto power causes me to wonder: Has Trump been making calls to US generals like that he made to Georgia secretary of state, demanding or threatening they help him overturn the 2020 election?"

Nunes to Get Presidential Medal of Freedom

President Trump on Monday is expected to give Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, the Washington Post reports.

Trump -- who is using his final days in the White House in part to reward friends and allies with pardons and other decorations -- is also expected to give Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), another confidant, the same award next week.

Lehigh University's Board of Trustees announced that it voted to rescind an honorary degree awarded to President Trump in 1988.

Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) told CBS News that that the ease in which rioters were able to get into the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday suggests someone on the inside of the Capitol was "complicit" in the assault.

"A web of pro-Trump dark money groups helped organize the rally that led to a deadly riot on Capitol Hill," CNBC reports.

"President Trump will not resign. Nor will he turn power over to Vice President Pence and ask him for a pardon, according to top White House advisers who have spoken with the highest ranking members of Mr. Trump's Cabinet, including Treasury Secretary Mnuchin, Pence and chief of staff Mark Meadows," CBS News reports.
