DeLay's Trial Still Delayed

by TChris

Tom DeLay had hoped that the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals would agree that he should be tried on a pending money laundering charge immediately. A prompt acquittal might have given him a chance to resume a meaningful (i.e., disastrous) role in Congress despite his decision to relinquish his leadership position. DeLay’s slim hopes were dashed today, however, as the Court of Criminal Appeals refused to give him his requested relief.

Someone explain something to me. Assuming a court date is available, why should the judge not make the trial go forward? 1. The prosecution MUST be ready, because they are the ones who brought the charges. 2. Delay says he's ready.

    Jim, From the article:
The trial court judge in December dismissed a conspiracy charge against DeLay but refused to throw out more serious allegations of money laundering. Prosecutors appealed that decision, and the judge decided not to proceed with the case until the appeal is resolved.

jeebus jim, you ever been in a criminal case or a civil suit? Have you ever seen things happen as quickly as DeLay, (who BTW is the one delaying the procedures), wants them to? Is he above the law? Should he be given special treatment? I had a car accident last May, my claim still hasn't been settled. Oooh, poor little tommy, he can't push judges around for political gain like he did the DHS.

Hey sailor, Should we assume that you were fired for your job and publicly ridiculed for being in a car accident? And that your career was destroyed because your were accused of causing the accident?

Hey M Heinz Imagine that you were elected because you promised to clean up congress and a few years later you were indicted for money laundering and then you are implicated in one of the worst corruption scandels in this century. Imagine, imagine if only you kept your promise.

    1) delay wasn't fired from his job. 2) he brings public ridcule on himself everytime he opens his mouth. He should have been convicted for abusing his office and filing a false report in the DHS scandal when he sicced cops and feds on dems, even going so far as to attempt to interfere in another states police forces.
